WoodN’s outdoor cladding was selected for an engineering challenge on Mont Blanc

The engineered wood cladding utilized for the outdoor walls ensures technical performance and beautiful aesthetics

The new SkyWay Cableway on Mont Blanc, Courmayeur, brings mountain enthusiasts to the heart of the perennial ice of the Alpine giant.  The structure, designed by architect Carlo Cillara Rossi, is part of a unique environmental context, characterized by often severe weather conditions.

The architect needed to create a cableway station that would integrate with the surrounding environment without foregoing contemporary design and the technical performance of the material.

The structure’s external walls were clothed with our JF7040 engineered wood profile, wholly Italian-made, featuring remarkable reliability, stability and climate suitability. The slats above all serve to isolate and embellish the concrete structure of the futuristic cableway station, from which the panoramic cablecars depart in constant defiance of gravity.

The end result is a modular and revolutionary cladding that gives the exterior of the structure a contemporary feel and perfect symmetry, combining the advantages of engineered wood with the warmth of natural wood.

Our solutions require no maintenance: our material is adequately treated to make it frost and sun resistant, ensuring its durability.
